Visual art

GOGOLFEST 2013 invites artists and curators to create site-specific projects, focusing on the industrial aesthetics of the festival venue – a former experimental machinery plant. We offer to think about the interaction with the existing location, integrating your works in the context of the original space.

Why have most of the plant shop floors ceased to work? How does this fact resonate with the general trend of fading functions and reorientation of certain buildings, and paradigm shift in urban environment in general? How to transform a post-industrial area into an attractive place for residents? How can an artist help an industrial zone to become a developed area of the creative industry?

We hope to see bold ideas and their implementation. We offer to create works that will later become the basis for aesthetics of Art Factory «EMZA».

The visual program of the festival will include:

  • personal projects / works of Ukrainian and international artists;
  • curatorial projects of  galleries, museums, contemporary art centers, and other art institutions;
  • G1-project – curatorial project of GOGOLFEST, implemented in the main festival building.

Artists are free to choose locations within the festival territory. We welcome objects and installations implemented in open areas around the factory buildings and using procedural and interactive methods of presentation.

Please submit your completed application form and additional visual materials (saved in PDF/JPEG format, no more than 5Mb) to the Visual Program Coordinator Lyudmyla Skrynnykova at visual@gogolfest.org

Deadline for submission: June 27, 2013.

Application are the subject to evaluation by a committee of experts formed by the festival team.
